Okay, my finger no longer has a hole in it, so back to hacking up the truck I go.

The chassis had very little flex without the top plate on, but I figured I'd eliminate any flex all together since I had the top plate sitting right here .

Of course the original plate still had the holes that was once home for the fuel tank and steering servo so out came the tin snipes. One of my favorite tools besides the torch and welder. (and Channel locks and Hammer and....)

That completely took all flex out of the chassis and it really won't look to bad after it gets trimmed.

Next thing I wanted to do was lower the engine but when I took the engine off, I figured I'd give it a bath while I was at it. It was a pile of pieces in no time. :)

*Note to self* Leave the 30 different sized hex wrenches in the box, a Phillips head screw driver will do it all!!!

When I was taking the front arms off, I noticed I could use a piece that I cut off of the top plate to use as a tie link for the upper front arms. It's very functional and looked pretty trick to boot since it's already purple.

Well, since I spent more time cleaning then modifying, the day was shot for about anything else. I did spend a lot of time on the diff. It has a bevel gear diff that had what looked like Vaseline for lube so I cleaned, shimmed, and introduced it to some of our special Motley Crew silicon grease. Don't ask, we won't tell.

So here's what it looks like right now.

Since I'll have the engine off of it's perch so I can lower it, I might as well do some work inside the engine as well..... but don't tell anyone, ok!! ;)

These pictures don't do the truck any justice. In person, it's really starting to look the part and now I'm getting excited.  Of course it could be that I haven't seen the ground in a month and theres more snow on the way.

So....... I'll be back at it soon!!!

Here's the last of the major surgery, Enjoy!!
