My bathroom project.

I had a water line break in the bathroom while we were away. It must have happened right as we pulled in the driveway or else it would have been much worse.

We had the place dried after we removed the carpet.

The hallway used to be carpeted. Hardwood floor is my goal now.

Same with the dining room.

YUCK!!!!!!!

After the driers left a few days later, it was time for me to assess the damage. Not good, I continued the find damp areas the farther I dug.

Say goodbye to the pink pig, it was so 80s anyway.

First dust.... I think this bathroom is going down.

Time to start over.

I wanted to tile so I used 1/2 cement backer board for a base.

Yes, this is my first time doing this.

I set the full tiles in mortar then started cutting the boarder tiles.

I've learned to never discard any scrap pieces of tile. These scraps might make a nice wall boarder but that's another day.

All the tiles cut, set in motar, and joints grouted.

I'm going with hardwood floor in the hallway and dining room so I hope to use a piece of the Corian top for the transistion board.

Well here it is, my first job that didn't involve a wrench or welder type tools.

I'm pretty happy the way it turned out but it took me way to long to complete. The grout is a bit darker than I'd have liked but it will match the top

See like I said, never throw away any scrap pieces, this is the closet so it was home to the scrap pieces.

During the tile project, I built the vanity. That job can be found on this site.../snswoodworking.htm

Well, it seems that my power steering line decided to leak as I was picking up the vanity so I'll fix that then I'll start taking pictures when I get it home. Finally a job I know about. :)

Ok, fixing my truck only took about a total of 45 minutes so home I go with the vanity in the back. I sure hope it fits and if my math is correct, it should even fit through the door ways. Ya think I'd had enough time to paint first huh?, but it's not screwed down yet so painting will be next.

The vanity gets introduced to it new home.

Here's the drawing of what the bathroom should turn out like when all done.

The back board of the vanity should have been screwed on from the back but since I'm not much of a plumber, I'll screw it on from the inside.

I really need to paint ASAP!!!!!!

I still don't have the handels but I don't think it looks to bad so far.

I made the Corian top today and I'm pretty beat. Here a couple pictures of it resting while I try to get my discs to snap back into place. I'm getting to old for this stuff!!! LOL

Well here's the top, it was hard to take pictures while holding it too.

Well I couldn't leave it be..... After a couple "stiff" Rum & Cokes, I installed the top.

This makes it easier to take pictures of it.

For some reason I thought the Corian had more black in it, Oops!!!! Well, it still kinda goes with the vanity.

The grout had more of a blue tint then the dark gray shown on the box so...... the second oops in my project. :(

That's a lot of gray, huh? I was afraid with the dark top the bathroom would be to dark, but after I started the top, I realized my mistake.... the top wasn't dark at all. I was thinking about brushed gray handles and fixtures, but now I'm not sure. I'm kinda lost with what color to go with. Black maybe? :( I already bought black paint for the electric base board heater so.... time to paint that then decide. Things aren't going as I envisioned it and I'm wearing down fast, now I see why there's a need for craftsman.

I had a chance to add the pulls and faucet. I went with a wide set (8") faucet instead of the 4" center faucet. Still a lot of work to go.

I finally had a chance to make the wall cabinets and install the mirror and lights. I have some trim to add that will make it all come together, as well as something over the toilet . Now come the artistic touches I like to call "fluff." :)

Getting close to finished.... I think

btw.... Did I mention I laid hardwood strips in the hallway and dining room as well as new carpet in the living room? I wanted all hardwood flooring but my wife said "NO"!!!!!

I'll try to find pictures of my first floor job.

I was throwing around the idea of using stained baseboard but decided to go with white painted board.

New wood floors look nice, I hope they stay that way for more then a day or two. lol

I laid tile here because we have a hot tub outside around the corner and it seems everyone stands there to dry off. Not good for wood floors.
