The 2003 race season is upon us!!
The 2002 race season went very well for me, I picked up a ride with CEN racing for the 2003 season, this brand is totally new to me. CEN is a fairly new company that is basically producing R/Cs for the beginner hobbyist rather then for the "very competitive" racing scene.
See, I'm the type of person that roots for the underdog, so I gladly took on the task of helping them get their trucks into an A-main or two.
So here we go........
I received one of their 4 wheel drive trucks known as the ST2. I was pleasantly surprised at the included features that is only found in the higher priced racing kits. Even though I don't feel like I am anything special as a driver, the 4wd truck handled very well and seemed to be ready to hit the race track right out of the box.
With that being said, shortly there after I received their 2 wheel drive version known as the ST1. Even though it's a fine backyard bashing truck, it won't have anything for the "built to race" race trucks that I'll be competing against.
It will need some modifications to reduce weight and move some weight around to lower the center of gravity while trying to keep the combination of balance, handling, and durability in check. In other words... the 2wd ST1 will be a ginny pig to make the 4wd ST2 even better.
I took some pictures as I moved things around that you may find interesting and if not, maybe I'll gather some pictures of crashed R/Cs for you.... everyone likes to see carnage, right?
Keep in mind, these CEN trucks were realized to withstand the multiple mishaps of a new hobbyist rather then built to be light and nimble like the trucks that are built just for racing.
